Mansergh update (and my new shoes)

Well its June and the summer is here!? Thought we'd let all our blog readers know some of the Mansergh family updates (all 2 of you?!)

We are finishing doing the youth work at St. Thomas' in August. After that we are not sure what the next season looks like, although we know we want to work out how to live more as a missionary family in a more inner city area of Sheffield, pursue the calling on our lives and enter a season of transition/movement. Prayers for a house to rent asap and wisdom much appreciated !

Anyway back to more pressing issues such as pictures of Elijah and his newish shoes which are great toys to!!!!

'These are my new shoes'

'I generally like to do a sniff test first, but also great for chewing...'

'...for throwing...'
'... and generally finding hilarious...'
'And these are my walkers which I find generally useful for getting around, they both have there pros and cons but have improved my quality of life greatly! despite the odd checking of the wheels!'

First Birthday

Well here are some photos of the birthday Boy, although they tell a bit of story they don't capture the pinnicle moment of face in cake!!!! See if you can spot between which photo this happned!

'Oh...is this for me?!!!'

'I wonder if they'll notice my finger....keep looking directly at the camera and i think i'll be alright'

'I reckon if I place two hands on I can get a direct hit. Ooooo it feels so good...I can just taste it, and its all mine. Keep looking cute still no one has caught on!'

'Bullseye... why do they put your cake in front of you and not expect you to take a nice big bite from it...strange these adults, they then take it away and cut it? (i'm a bit upset too as I really liked the cake)'

'Now its time for a birthday pose with daddy...i do wish that cake would come back'

A few Firsts!!!

It was Elijah's first birthday a couple of weeks ago. It felt a significant time now having a one year old! (photos to follow)

Another first this week was elijah managing to phone the emergency services, so playing with the phone will need to be monitored more carefully!

Last but not least today was the first poo in the bath I think thats quite impressive considering Elijah's had a bath most days since the day he was born!

Its been a busy couple of weeks. After returning from Sicily we went to the Heidi and Rolland Baker conference. What a great way to spend the first few days back after a holiday. It was great to be reminded of the simplicity of loving God and loving others.

Last weekend John's sister got married in Bristol it was a lovely day. The wedding itself was very swish! and it was great to see the joy in Abbie on the day amidst lots of preparation.

Here is abbie's dress for all the girls to look at!

The growing Mansergh family!!!!

This is Elijah with
Grandad Mansergh!

This was the wedding cake...the cream colour around the edges was piped white chocolate. It was very tall and tasted scrumptious

We extended the weekend and went to the Bath Spa - what a brilliant place - a rooftop pool, steam rooms, foot spas etc... its well worth a 2 hour spa sess... which was a christmas present from my sis. Also having Elijah looked after for the day was great too!

The spa is definately worth a visit especially on a sunny day, a must for those in and near bristol!

Just back from Silcily! had a lovely time with Marco and Cinzia. It felt a bit of an adventure getting an 11 month old on a plane but all went well with the help of friendly siclians entertaining him! also impressed with more friendly silcians at the airport when our suitcase was taken by someone else to be returned 2 days later!!!!

Sicily is a beautiful place. We enjoyed lots of food and laughter! We stayed at marco and cinzia's which is on Mount Etna an active volcano(real smoke coming out)! which we could see out of the window every day. We also had the priviledge of meeting a couple called Martino and Kathy who had moved to Sicily from America as they felt called by God to.

Anyway here are some photos of our time away...

Here are some recent photos of elijah. He has many facial expressions and his most recent one is shaking he head like he's saying no!

Meal times are definately the most animated, cheeky and frustrating times!!!! Its amazing what food does to one whos so small in size.
Bread sticks are the favorite they have not been refused yet! Although the playing with food has started and the pick up and drop over the side of the chair is the most fun!
